University of Cambridge Car Parks

Cambridge, United Kingdom

The Thorlux Juno A IP66 rated pole top amenity luminaire was chosen to illuminate the car park at the University of Cambridge Library. Dedicated acrylic lenses for each individual LED provide enhanced optical control for uniform light distribution and long life control gear ensures each luminaire in the Juno range has a service life of 100,000 hours.

The William Gates Building, or WGB, is a square building that houses the Computer Laboratory at the University of Cambridge. Opened by Maurice Wilkes, it was named after William H. Gates Sr., the father of Microsoft founder Bill Gates. The Thorlux Starbeam luminaire is installed in the car park areas. The Starbeam uses high power white LEDs mounted to low thermal resistant aluminium clad purpose designed circuit boards and is fitted with a UV stabilised polycarbonate cover providing mechanical protection for the LEDs. The standard versions IP66 enclosure excludes water, dust, dirt and insects maintaining optical efficiency throughout the product’s lifetime.
